I recently had a very unpleasant experience buying a book from dangdang.
This is the so-called book (Ancient Chinese Architecture).

First of all, it is kind of my fault to have missed the conveniently obscure introduction of '大三十二开' and '24页'( When purchasing on line,  I've always been very careful about how many pages there are in the book I'm going to buy, but who would think a book published by a Chinese publishing house, priced at 168 RMB, only contains 24 pages?).  It's not 'issued with a DVD', it IS a DVD. Whoever wrote this on-line introduction must hold a doctorate degree in sales. It's like those extremely small letters on the package of condoms that read 'only effective 97 percent of the time'.

Second of all, if you think as the book is so abysmal, the DVD might provide enough information, you are sadly mistaken. It is not a DVD per se, more like an ebook. Each of its seven sections contains less than 20 pages on average, sometimes only 12, and there is almost nothing you cannot get through the internet.

Moreover, if you think with such an unreasonable price, at least the language used in this book would be native enough, again, you are as wrong as the day is long. Finding a beautiful sentence in this book is as hard as finding a needle in a pile of needles, and the lady reading the introduction part of the book has such a lousy accent that can only be deemed as of a high school kid, and not a very smart one.

I suddenly understand why piracy is so widespread in China. When you are cheated, you need to get back.
